Surgeon at Machine, Trouw, Amsterdam, Holland 24th September 2011

The concept of Ben Sims and Kirk Degiorgio's Machine night is to play only new music, not relying on familiar classics to move the crowd.
After Sandrien and Kirk Degiorgio I played my set. None of the music I played was more than a year old.
As before, I really enjoyed playing at Trouw and the crowd were great. Following the set wherever it went.

That really pisses me off.
I don't believe those people even listen to the music.
It's just about consuming.

Wax Treatment

This was my second time playing at Wax Treatment in Berlin. The night is based around Dub Reggae in its many forms, so I had that in mind during my set and kept returning to Dub & Reggae throughout my set.

The way music sounds on their Killasan soundsystem (which they install in the club especially for the night) is indescribably beautiful. Unfortunately, this recording is just a pale representation compared to the experience as it was on the night.

As the soundsystem is set up facing the DJ, I was able to play without using monitor speakers, so I was able to experience the sound in the same way as the audience. It's wonderful to see every time at Wax Treatment that the crowd very naturally turns to face the soundsystem, rather than the DJ. Just the way I like it.

Some very dear friends were at the club that night, some of whom had never heard me DJ, or had ever experienced electronic dance music in that way before.

The way the music sounded on the Killasan soundsystem was a perfect introduction for them.

I've been sent a DMCA copyright notice demanding I remove the link to this set from my blog, I assume it was the Alice Coltrane track which flagged it up.

You can easily find the set elsewhere using any internet search engine. It's also up on Soundcloud.
If that's beyond you then here's a [link] to help.

Breaking The Frame 2

Trudy Creen-
"It's made up from a few little pieces of old work that I did in the early 90's of a poppy husk, bits of a leopard from a magazine, old drawings of plants and cherry trees I did in the early 90's, tiny part of a Chinese restaurant menu, and tiny bits out of a Birmingham Irish newspaper that I picked up last time I was there. The rest is just my reaction to listening to your album. I have quite a photographic memory and I've been doing a lot of online revision of art styles and listening to a lot of interesting music which always helps :-)
I just tried to stay true to what you requested. Obviously recent news events and so on have been on my mind too...."
