Passing Notes

Over the years I've been passed some amusing (and unintelligible) notes while I've been DJing. Below are a few examples.

Sensible.

Unintelligible.

Worrying.

Sadly I couldn't find my favorite given to me as Karl and I played a British Murder Boys set in Manchester a few years ago, "Sort your tunes out mate! The guy before was much better."

@ James
Your comment makes as much sense as some of those notes!

I've never thought to pass a note asking a DJ to play something. Do a lot of people do that??

@theyurinator

Like the way the middle one actually scribbled something out, as if to say "nah that's just silly, doesn't make any sense"!

@jmv
Yes it does!

The second one is pure zen, the answer to the meaning of life is in there.

Ditto the third one.

Your gonna get a wave of notes now that you have put it in peoples heads.

"I know this in yours souls"... The guy was either completely drunk or he thought of leaving a really thoughtful and philosophical note to you, or maybe both ^_^

Great post !

Haha hilarious! Nice idea to save and post them as well, I threw all mine away =/

Mine have mostly been from eastern european girls saying something like "i like many this musics! you make nice!!!!!" or some spanish (isn't it funny how spanish people actually think every living person speaks spanish?!?!) note saying something like "ERES MUY BIEN ME GUSTA MULERO MUCHO JEJEJEJEJ"

Smearington said...

Trust you to get the eastern european girls! (I refuse to believe you were handed a note with 'JEJEJEJE' though)

The closest thing i've had to a note from an eastern european girl is a ginger haired guy twice give me a lecture during a live set because my kickdrums weren't 'big' enough. I've since learned to just say 'Yeah nice one!' no matter what anyone says, kills the conversation well.

@Mika
it was good from you to say ´SOMETHING LIKE´ other way that phrase would perfectly fit this post!
and actually just the people from spain thinks that every living person speaks spanish, i think its because the amount of beer they drink in the mornings :o)

sadly, the best notes i've ever got were on displays of mobile phones so i couldn't keep them.
in April i was warming up for james ruskin and a guy came up with a note on the display "czy masz cos z m_nus records?" (polish for "have you got any m_nus rec?").
half an hour later he came up to james with the same message, not sure whether he translated it into english though.. :)

@essence
The phone ones don't count ;->

Last Saturday a guy in Leeds passed me his phone to show Pole, it said, "were you born with ears"
During my set he was typing all sorts of messages about his mother etc.

Thats mad! I was studyin in Manchester when you guys were playin at the Locked night in the phoenix, in fact i lived in the student halls across the road! I wasnt drinkin that night cos i had an exam a couple of days after so i remember the night clearly, there was no way i was going to miss hearin you guys play on my doorstep. I was standin up by da bar lookin down on you guys workin your magic when i could see a girl make her way through the crowd holdin a piece of paper. She made it to the barrier on front of da decks and handed you the note. You politely accepted it, read it, then looked up, rolled the note into a ball and bounced it off her head in disgust! Aaaaah haaaa thats why you dont have the note!! Reading your lips i think you told her to "fuck off" as you launched the piece of paper back at her!! Man i nearly fell over laughing and to this day I tell my friends about that experience, obviously i never knew what was written on the piece of paper but i assumed it was something to that effect!! And for you to mention it in ur blog has made my day! Very funny story indeed!! Still a huge fan of your music!! All the best! Nige

@Nige
Yes, that was the same incident.
Still wish I'd kept that note.

Classic moment! I think that bird was a bit confused and thought it was a Tidy Trax nite ah ha! Anyway now the story is complete with an insight from the man himself! Keep up the good work! Nige

so who was on before that was so much better?
